Latest News for CTET 2017 is that the CBSE has not published any notification regarding online application form of CTET 2017 Exam. It is possible that CBSE will announce the exam dates in the coming few weeks. Complete details for the CTET exam is as under:-
CTET
CTET stands for Central Teacher Eligibility Test. This test is conducted by CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education). National Council For Teacher Education (NCTE) made it compulsory to pass TET exam in order to become a teacher for class 1 to 8. NCTE made CTET exam (TET) compulsory under section 23 of Right to Education Act (RTE). NCTE states that it is mandatory to qualify Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) conducted by appropriate government. To become a primary teacher in the schools which are governed by Government of India, a candidate have to pass CTET. While the other schools which are governed by state govt. will consider the TET exam conducted by the state government. CTET or Central Teacher eligibility test is conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education. This exam is conducted by the Government of India in accordance with the Guidelines/ notification framed by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).
The logic behind conducting TET as a minimum qualification to become a teacher for class 1 to 8 is as follows:-
1. TET will bring national standard of teacher quality in their recruitment process.
2. It will also lead teacher education colleges and students to further improve their performance.
3. It will convey a positive message to all the stakeholders that the government is serious on teacher quality.
CTET exam shall be applicable to schools which are governed by Central Government like JNV, KVS, NVS, or Central Tibetan Schools. Schools under the administrative control of
Union territory of Chandigarh, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu and Andaman &
Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep and NCT of Delhi. will also be covered under ctet examination.
(ii)In unaided school wish to apply CTET in their schools then CTET may be applied to that schools.
(iii) State Government or local bodies and aided schools shall consider the TET conducted by the respective State Government. IF a state decides not to conduct state TET that State Government can also consider the CTET.

CTET Exam Levels
There are two levels or two papers:-
Paper 1 - Paper 1 is for the candidate who wants to become a teacher for classes 1 to 5.
Paper 2 - Paper 2 is for the candidate who wants to become a teacher for classes 6 to 8.
Kindly note that if a person wants to become a teacher for classes 1 to 5 and 6 to 8, he will have to appear and pass both the papers i.e. Paper 1 and Paper 2.
CTET Exam Eligibility Criteria
CTET exam Minimum Qualifications (Teacher for Classes I-V) Primary Classes
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or
appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever
name known)
OR
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and passed or
appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever
name known), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure),
Regulations, 2002.
OR
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or
appearing in final year of 4- year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
OR
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or
appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Education (Special Education)*.
OR
Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of two year Diploma in
Elementary Education (by whatever name known).
CTET Exam Minimum Qualifications (Teacher for Classes VI-VIII Elementary Stage)
Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in
Elementary Education (by whatever name known).
OR
Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor
in Education (B.Ed).
OR
Graduation with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor
in Education (B.Ed), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and
Procedure) Regulations issued from time to time in this regard.
OR
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or
appearing in final year of 4- year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
OR
Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or
appearing in final year of 4- year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed.
OR
Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year B.Ed.
(Special Education)*.
Note:
i. Relaxation up to 5% in the qualifying marks in the minimum Educational
Qualification for eligibility shall be allowed to the candidates belonging
to reserved categories, such as SC/ST/OBC/Differently abled.
ii. Diploma/Degree Course in Teacher Education: For the purposes of this
Notification, a Diploma/Degree course in teacher education recognized by the
National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) only shall be considered.
However, in case of Diploma in Education (Special Education) and B.ED
(Special Education), a course recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of
India (RCI) only shall be considered.
iii. Training to be undergone: A person with D.Ed (Special Education) or
qualification shall undergo, after appointment , an NCTE recognized 6-month
Special Programme in Elementary Education.
iv. The minimum qualifications referred above apply to teachers of Languages,
Social Studies/Social Science, Mathematics, Science etc. In respect of
teachers for Physical Education, the minimum qualification norms for Physical
Education teachers referred to in NCTE Regulation, dated 3rd November,
2001 (as amended from time to time) shall be applicable. For teachers of Art
Education, Craft Education, Home Science, Work Education, etc. the existing
eligibility norms prescribed by the State Governments and other school
managements shall be applicable till such time the NCTE lays down the
minimum qualifications in respect of such teachers.
v. The candidate not having any of the above qualification shall not be
eligible for appearing in Central Teacher Eligibility Test.
vi. The candidate should satisfy his/her eligibility before applying
and shall be personally responsible in case he/she is not eligible
to apply as per the given eligibility criteria. It is to be noted that if
a candidate has been allowed to appear in the Central Teacher
Eligibility Test it does not imply that the candidate’s eligibility has
been verified. It does not vest any right with the candidate for
appointment. The eligibility shall be finally verified, by the
concerned recruiting agency / appointing authority.
